Official Launch

The official launch of the 'Great Past, Greater Future' campaign will be Sunday 30th September 2012 starting with a Service of Thanksgiving at 11.30am to be followed by a Buffet Lunch

Shena writes..." Sir David Frost; celebrated for his clear sighted and pertinent communication of current affairs in this country and across the world has generously agreed to become Patron of our campaign.  We are very grateful for this public demonstration of his support.  Sir David is unable to attend the forthcoming public launch, however we look forward to warmly welcoming him to St Peter's at some future date."

Public Launch

After a frenzied few weeks of preparations, St Peter's was pleased to open it's doors to over 100 members of the congregation, and wider community, to celebrate the public launch of our campaign.

Unfortunately, our Patron, Sir David Frost OBE was unable to be with us, but Mr Chris Smith, Radio One Newsreader, former chorister, bellringer and son of our very own Mr Adrian Smith, was kind enough to step in, and did a wonderful job as our guest of honour.

The event comprised a short, informal service of thanksgiving, with addresses given by Rev'd Shena Bell, Mr Chris Smith and Cllr Sylvia Hughes - speaking on behalf of Cllr Mike Clements, Mayor of Raunds, who was unable to attend.  After the service, guests took advantage of the excellent refreshments, organised by Mrs Rita Chantrell and her team of helpers, and a glass of wine kindly donated by local businesses.  Tours of the church were available, and a range of material was on display giving further information about the campaign.

A star attraction of the launch, was the unveiling of the magnificent scale model of the church, made almost entirely of recycled materials, by a member of the congregation.  Complete in every detail, the model can be opened up to reveal the equally stunning interior, including pews, choir stalls and wall paintings.  The model is now on long-term display in the church, so if you didn't get a chance to see it, pop in and have look.
